#1385: Adding author on article visualization

Type: FeatureItem Feature: ContentManagement Tags: safernet
ScheduledFor: N/A Assigned to: Nobody Sites:
Priority: 0 Status: Working

When we saw an article we couldn't see the article's author. We could have the possibility to show on not the article's author on the top of the article. Can you describe the steps to nh hng tm hm tphcm create this untitled blog? I've tried to create an untitled one, but, as I wished, I couldn't even through the console, because the tile is, theoretically, required. In fact, every folder is supposed to have a mn ngon đi loan title, so nh hng tm cng xanh if you were able to create a blog folder without the title, nha hang quan 1 probably the other folders have problems too

In this patch you could mark the article to display on not the author's name

Nice, good work. smile

But I have a problem your patch: if displaying the author is optional anyway, why adding so much more complexity by having two new methods (display_author and can_display_author)? I would add the setting with different default values for each class, but if someone wants to display the title, let it be.

Other point is that the actualy string should be more generic, e.g. instead of "Author: %s", what about "By %s"? The author name could also be a link to her instead of plain text.

A part from that, it is ok and I can apply it as soon as you fix the points above (or convince me on the contrary)

I'm removing this item from 0.23.0 release, but feel free to ping us if you manage to go on with it so that we can re-include it in the release..

I made the changes. Please evaluate the patch 0001-Adding-author-name-in-published-articles.patch:

The code looks a lot better. smile

But the problem is that in some places that are also articles, it does not make much sense to display the author, and it's true by default. For example presenting that info in the blog is weird:

When viewing a blog, this information is displayed twice:

1385-post.png

I don't know what's the best solution, though. Perhaps defining it as false by default, but still the user might end up with weird things like the screenshots above.
